I create whimsical slip cast porcelain vessels that  capture a single moment in time.  As a child, I would draw for hours. I continued to draw as an adult and wanted to incorporate my drawings into my ceramics work. It has been a process trying different surface decorating techniques. I tested the line quality of sgraffito, mishima, slip, and even decals, but I chose underglaze pencils, The crayon-like pattern from the underglaze pencils enhance my simple line drawings.
My designs are influenced from taking walks. It is during these walks, that I can clear my head and observe everything from architecture to wildlife.  I’m fascinated by the natural and synthetic world that surrounds us, from fresh water jelly fish to solar fish. I like looking at objects, without distractions, so I can absorb their forms and process them into my own designs.
