Donna and Greg began studying ceramics in Morristown NJ and continued at

Sawtooth Visual Arts Center in Winston Salem NC and the Spruill Center for the Arts

in Atlanta.  Greg’s background includes nuclear physics, electrical engineering and

software development.  Donna studied design, textiles, and color at the NY School of

Interior Design and had an interior design company before beginning their pottery

business.  She is an avid gardener and her garden is certified by the North American

Butterfly Association as a butterfly habitat.  They made the leap into a different

lifestyle in 1999 after staring for months at a quote on their refrigerator:  “Sometimes

you need to take the leap and build your wings on the way down.”  Greg was initially

drawn to form and function and Donna was attracted to surface decoration and glazing

techniques.  Analytical by nature, Greg applies the same attention to detail and process

as he did in his previous corporate work.  And he’s happier.  Their interests have now

merged.  Function leads. The subtleties of color with the fluid lines and shapes

revealed in their garden and wooded surroundings inspire their designs.  “We want to

create art that begs to be touched.  Interacting with customers completes the creative

process for us – it’s where we see the fruition of our labor in the pleasure that our work

brings to people who use our functional pottery in their everyday lives.  We are so

grateful for that opportunity.”
