Heisler

Inspired by nature, I stretch reality to create an exotic haven of tranquility.

I am a ceramic artist with a studio in Zionsville, Indiana, and I am on the Ceramics faculty of the Indianapolis Art Center. My degree from the University of California at Davis is in Art History and Art Practice where I focused on drawing and sculpture. I also spent a year studying Art History at the University of Bergen, Norway and Life Drawing at the Applied Arts and Crafts College of Bergen. Extensive post graduate studies have all been in ceramics.

My work begins on the wheel, and from there I hand build sculptures of herons, koi and “fantasy plants.” Tile pieces are handmade in stoneware and painted with underglazes. All of the work is fired in a reduction gas kiln. Everything I make is one of a kind.
